Road Racing

No other manufacturer supports motorcycle road racing like Suzuki. 2008 marks the 22nd anniversary of America’s longest running and strongest road racing contingency program. The Suzuki Cup has allowed racers from across the country to earn their share of millions of dollars posted each year by Suzuki.

Once again, the Suzuki Cup culminates in the Suzuki Cup Finals at Road Atlanta. Suzuki racers fight all season to earn their invitation to this prestigious event. This years Suzuki Cup Finals are bigger than ever. Suzuki puts $80,000 in prize money on the line, plus the chance to be crowned a Suzuki Cup Champion.

2008 Road Race Contingency Rules

  • The 2008 Suzuki Contingency program runs from November 1, 2007 through October 31, 2008. The registration must be submitted to ASMC within 30 days after the first event in order to qualify for payment.
  • Only 2007 and 2008 GSX-R and SV650 models are eligible for road racing contingency. Qualifying models must display standard logos as described below.
  • Only one rider may earn contingency on any single motorcycle during a contingency year.
  • If the motorcycle raced is not owned by the racer, a sponsor affidavit must be completed and submitted before the rider is eligible for payment.
  • Only Dealer registered U.S. Suzuki models are eligible.
  • Participants must hold an expert license and have a valid U.S. Social Security Number or taxpayer ID number.
  • Participants must have a valid U.S. address.
  • Riders may "ride up" one class on GSX-R model motorcycles if their sanctioning body allows. For example, a GSX-R600 may compete and earn money in the 750cc class but not the 1000cc class.
  • Contingency payments will not be made to classes that have fewer than the required minimum number of riders.
  • Suzuki will pay contingency to 50% of the starting grid, up to a maximum of 10 riders, in 4-cylinder classes. Suzuki will pay contingency to 50% of the starting grid, up to a maximum of 5 riders, in Twin classes. In no case will Suzuki pay road racing contingency where the starting grid is less than 5 riders.
  • There will be no updating of Suzuki equipment. A given model year must remain stock per that model year’s Suzuki service manual. For example, you may not install a GSX-R750 "K6" engine into a GSX-R750 "K7" frame.
  • Riders falsifying claims will be automatically disqualified from the program.

The registration must be submitted to ASMC within 30 days after the first event in order to qualify for payment. Registrations submitted after the 30 day period will not be eligible for payment. It is the racer’s responsibility to resolve race result disputes with the race organization. ASMC will only make payments based on results provided by the race organization. No payments will be made for races included in the 2008 Suzuki contingency program after December 1, 2008. Any errors or missed payments must be reported to Suzuki in writing prior to December 1, 2008, or those payments will be forfeited.

*Only with participating clubs which allow "riding up."
