Dave Burks Motorsports has been involved with Suzuki since the SuperTracker Series was founded in 1999 to help bring street bike based motorcycles into AMA flat-track racing. The original team consisted of Joe Kopp and Kenny Coolbeth, Dave Burks Motorsports season was capped off when Joe Kopp won the inaugural AMA SuperTrapp Supertracker Championship with five wins and two additional podiums finishes for the Burks team. In 2000 Burks again won the series for the second straight year. For the 2002 season the SuperTracker bikes were implemented into the premier AMA Flat Track Championships, Grand National class. For the 2003 Season American Suzuki contracted Dave Burks Motorsports to run the Suzuki team in the AMA Flat Track Championship. The team consisted of veteran rider Kevin Varnes and up coming rider A.J. Eslick. The 2003 and 2004 seasons proved to be development years for the team and riders as both gained knowledge of the new bikes. In 2005 the team made a rider change as Jake Johnson came onboard to join Kevin Varnes. Also the long awaited RM-Z 450 was released, and would prove to make a difference in the short track and TT part of the program. With testing and development over the last few seasons the SV/DL 1000 engine has also shown it is a contender for the AMA GNC championship as well. With the start of the 2005 season Jake proved that he was a good acquisition to the Burks program by winning the first race of the AMA Flat Track series at Daytona, giving Suzuki its first win with the brand new RM-Z 450. Dave Burks Motorsports hopes that 2005 will be the best season yet for the Suzuki flat track program.
